About us

Welcome to the Farodell Web Site, Breeders of British Shorthair Cats since 1985. My name is Faith Bowman and I have been breeding British Shorthairs for around 23 years now. Over that time, I have had some success on the showbench, producing many champions in the selfs and bi-colours. More recently I have been breeding silvers both classic and spotted tabbies and have also produced some lovely tortie silvers. At the end of last year I brought in a lovely Chocolate tabby boy (Tigger) from Lisa Burnell of Burleaway and I am hoping that Tigger will soon be siring some lovely chocolate and lilac kittens, both self and spotty/tabby. We have recently moved house from Scotland to Cumbria . This was a marathon task with all the cats, dogs, furniture etc. but we are very happy in our new surroundings and hopefully the cattery will soon be completed. We should hopefully have some silver kittens in a couple of months time. Please pop back again soon to catch up on our news. I breed these lovely cats in the following colours:-silver tabby, silver spotted, blue, cream, blue-cream, red silver and tortie silver. Hopefully we will soon be able to add lilac and chocolate self to this list, plus the possibility of lilac and chocolate spotties and tabbiesAll our babies are bred and raised indoors & so are used to household noises. They are raised with our Cocker Spaniel & two Golden Retrievers, whom they tend to use as hot water bottles in the winter! Our babies are fully vaccinated for flu, enteritis, leukemia and chlamydia, wormed, registered with the GCCF and insured. They leave home with the usual supply of kitten food and care sheet. We are a FeLV/FIV negative household. Our babies are only available to permanent, indoor homes. The average life-span for an outdoor cat is 3 - 5 years. The average life-span for an indoor cat is 15 - 20 years!Sorry but we do not export unless we have met the new owners in person. All our kittens are placed on the GCCF non-active register unless it is agreed before sale that the kitten may be bred from. Our kittens are not homed until 13 weeks of age to ensure that they have fully recovered from their vaccinations. However, if the re-homing date of your particular kitten clashes with your holiday arrangements, we are normally able to hold on to him or her for a couple of weeks to accommodate this.
